In our continued effort to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all IHSS clients, we are expanding our Registry to include “Fragrance-Free” Providers. That is those who can accommodate Recipients with fragrance sensitivities, allergies and other scent related health conditions.

Many of our Recipients experience significant health impacts from exposure to scented products. To meet their needs, we are seeking Providers who can commit to maintaining a scent free environment during all client visits.

What does “scent free” mean?

Being a “scent free” Provider means avoiding the use of:

  • Perfumes, colognes, body sprays and/or aftershave
  • Scented lotions, powders, makeup or personal care products
  • Scented hair products such as shampoo, conditioner, hairspray or gel
  • Fragranced deodorants and body washes
  • Scented laundry products such as detergent, fabric softeners and dryer sheets
  • Smoking, vaping, incense or air fresheners, whether on your person, in your car or brought into a client’s home

If you are able and willing to work “scent free”, we encourage you to contact the IHSS Public Authority Registry at: (510) 577-5694 to be added to this specialized list of Providers. This will help us better match Providers with Recipients who have specific fragrance sensitivities.
